I am consistently impressed by CARE and its use of not only its website but multiple interactive technologies. Visually gorgeous, with stories that command attention. Check it out: http://www.care.org/. Also impressive - America's Second Harvest rebranding and overhaul of its materials: www.feedingamerica.org. I am a long time marketing exec now devoting my time and energies as a pro bono consultant who works with small, "worthy" non-profits to build capability. One of the things that constantly shocks me is the number of websites that were created, oh, 10+ years ago, and that may do more harm than good to an organization's image and goals! I regularly review sites of organizations that serve similar populations (we'll leave the question of duplication for another day...) and those that I consider best practice. I'm blogging what I'm learning at http://philanthrophile.wordpress.com.

Excellent article and I'm particularly glad you showcase change.org

I'd also like to shamelessly plug my own site:
www.thirdsectorforums.co.uk

We beta launched recently, TSF is a friendly online community for UK charity professionals, volunteers and social entrepreneurs. The forums are a place for people to network, learn, debate and discuss third sector issues. Categories include funding, fundraising, governance, legal issues, internet, marketing, campaigns, social enterprise and more. The forums are free to use and run by volunteers.

Hopefully see some of you on the forums soon.

Great to see such a comprehensive post about all the ways we can help end poverty, and not just by writing about it for a special event, but by combating it every day.

It won't be easy, but the more people who become aware through posts like this, the better the chance of success.

Thanks Laura for your post on the way non-profits are using their imaginations to reach out to us. Let's hope we can make this a two-way flow eh?
